Old Trick in a Big Way

Often as not, bikers don't need things to be over fancy. We have all seen, and I am sure many have tried, pulling the table cloth out from under a table, set for dinner. I admit that I have tried this, but I will leave it up to you to decide if I was able to do the trick or not. But what we see in this video takes this trick to a whole new level. I would not try this at home, even with adult supervision or even with dishes you got from the GoodWill Store. It reminds me of a card game called 52 pick up I tried to teach my little sister.

With Summer on the way - GET READY

Summer is right around the corner and if you are thinking of coming to our BASH, the last weekend in August, then it is time to start learning new tricks that could be very helpful at the BASH. Here is a good one we learned from our friend Red Green, who by the way is a friend on our Facebook. What a guy. He rates right up there with Toivo and Eino.

Found This in My e-mail Box Today

The National Poetry Contest had come down to two semi-finalists:

a) a Yale graduate;
b) an Upper Michigander .

They were given a single word, then allowed two minutes to come up with

a poem containing that word.

The word they were given was " TIMBUKTU ".

The Yale graduate stepped up the microphone and said:

"SLOWLY ACROSS THE DESERT SAND
TREKKED A LONELY CARAVAN.
MEN ON CAMELS - TWO BY TWO
DESTINATION - TIMBUKTU ".

The crowd went crazy! No way could the Yooper top that, they thought.

The Upper Michigander calmly made his way to the microphone, and recited:

"ME AND TIM A HUNTIN' WENT,
MET T'REE WHORES IN A POP-UP TENT.
DEY WAS T'REE, AND WE WAS TWO
SO I BUCKED ONE, AND TIMBUKTU ".

When the Music Stopped...

(For those who are unaware: At all military base theaters,

the National Anthem is played before the movie begins.)

This is written from a Chaplain in Iraq :

I recently attended a showing of 'Superman 3' here at LSA Anaconda. We have a large auditorium we use for movies, as well as memorial services and other large gatherings. As is the custom at all military bases, we stood to attention when the National Anthem began before the main feature. All was going well until three-quarters of the way through The National Anthem, the music stopped.

Now, what would happen if this occurred with 1,000 18-22 year-olds back in the States? I imagine there would be hoots, catcalls, laughter, a few rude comments, and everyone would sit down and yell for the movie to begin. Of course, that is, if they had stood for the National Anthem in the first place.

Here in Iraq, 1,000 Soldiers continued to stand at attention, eyes fixed forward. The music started again and the Soldiers continued to quietly stand at attention. But again, at the same point, the music stopped. What would you expect 1000 Soldiers standing at attention to do?? Frankly, I expected some laughter, and everyone would eventually sit down and wait for the movie to start.

But No!!... You could have heard a pin drop, while every Soldier continued to stand at attention.

Suddenly, there was a lone voice from the front of the auditorium, then a dozen voices, and soon the room was filled with the voices of a thousand soldiers, finishing where the recording left off: "And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave."

It was the most inspiring moment I have had in Iraq and I wanted you to know what kind of Soldiers are serving you. Remember them as they fight for us! Pass this along as a reminder to others to be ever in prayer for all our soldiers serving us here at home and abroad. Many have already paid the ultimate price.

Never too Old to Read the Porky Press

Dear Cap'n

I come apologizing back, I quit paying for my subscription about 3 or 4 months ago, but you kept right on sending me the mag with your apology for too much right wing "ink." You substituted the right wing crap with some Will Rogers writings that everyone can enjoy. Thank you!

Enclosed my check for 1 year, go back to when you started the "freebies" and credit it to my account, I don't need charity. I am not poverty stricken.

You see when I returned from the army on October 8, 1945, I joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and still belong, working union all those years, retired 1983 with a good pension and still draw the good pension even though I am 91 1/3 years of age.

I lived and trout fished most of the fine trout streams in Michigan when I was younger and caught a 9 lb. Rainbow in the Clinton River on August 24th, 1954 which was shown on may episodes of Mort Neff's Michigan Outdoors program in the year 1954.

Thank you so much for courtesies extended to me! Enclosed my check for 1 year, at my age I think in terms of terminal. Go Well. I lived in Waterford Twsp. I remember Will Rogers and Wiley post and the Alaska Crash 1935.

Chop Shop Girls Headline at the Village Pub in PV

Never a dull minute at the Village Pub in the Porcupine Valley as the Chop Shop Girls headline the all girls show. They are using this show stop, as the warm up the big show, the last weekend of August this year, when they come with Kimmy Cruz to dazzle the crowds at the BASH 2010 in Chatham, Michigan. Since the theme for the event is "Saluting our Military" they have been working on special salutes for the troops and veterans. They were in such a hurry to get here and start working on their show, they arrived before the blacktop was even spread on the road and the parking lot. It didn't stop the crowd from getting there and the girls packed the place. I think this will be at case, about every day they are doing their show here. They should be a really big hit at the BASH 2010, so don't miss it.
